Media Player Classic (MPC) is a free media player for Windows. The compact, lightweight app mimics the look and feel of the old Windows Media Player v6.4, but integrates most options and features found in modern media players. It will play just about any kind of media file you can throw at it including MP3, AVI, MPEG, MPG, MP2, VOB, AC3, DTS, M3U, ASF, WMA, WMV, D2V, MP4, SWF, MOV, QT, WAV, WMA, OGG, and more. (Just FYI - To get maximum functionality, you will need to download a codec pack)
MPC is capable of VCD, SVCD and DVD playback without installation of additional software or codecs. It has built-in codecs for MPEG-2 video with support for subtitles and codecs for LPCM, MP2, AC3 and DTS audio. MPC also contains an improved MPEG splitter that supports playback of VCDs and SVCDs using its VCD/SVCD/XCD Reader. In addition, the player has a built-in DVD player with real-time zoom, QuickTime and RealVideo support (requires QT and/or Real player), supports native playback of OGM and Matroska container formats and more.
