TuxTyping 2 is a free open-source educational typing tutor for kids. The fun application, which stars Tux, the Linux penguin, provides a entertaining way for kids to practice their typing, learn their letters quickly and become familiar with a computer keyboard.

TuxTyping 2 features two great games - Fish Cascade and Comet Zap - and a practice feature. In Fish Casade, fish adorned with letters fall from the sky and Tux must catch them before they hit the ground. But Tux can only catch the fish if you type the right letters in time! Fish Cascade features three difficulty levels - Easy, Medium and Hard. In Comet Zap you control Tux as he defends the cities from falling comets. You have to type the letters that appear on the comets so Tux will blast them out of the sky with his handy laser before they hit the buildings. Comet Zap has four difficulty levels - Space Cadet, Pilot, Ace and Commander. In both games, for each level of difficulty you can use either letters, short, medium or long words or finger exercises. In the practice mode, a letter and two hands appear on the screen. Once the letter is printed on the screen, the finger that should be used for typing is highlighted. Follow the images on the screen to learn the correct fingering for the keyboard.
